Efficient heat storages can supplement heating systems for large properties and industry.
\nIf required, the systems can be expanded to include heat pumps and sector coupling – i.e. the connection of the heat and electricity sectors.

Complex and<\/em> economical: making district heating fit for the future<\/h3>\n

District heating systems have the most complex operating conditions of the overall systems we consider. The integration of renewable heat sources into existing heating networks can result in new technical requirements for the district heating system. In most cases, intermediate construction steps with a combination of existing and new heat generation technologies are necessary. <\/p>\n

Renewable energy producers usually offer favourable and stable long-term operating costs, but require high initial investments.<\/p>\n

In our experience, the economic efficiency of the system is a key aspect when deciding for or against different technical variants. Dynamic system simulations<\/a> can be used to develop and economically and technically optimise these overall systems.<\/p>\n<\/div>

We work on tasks such as possible reductions in flow and return temperatures, increasing the efficiency of existing heat generators, decentralized integration of renewable energy producers and heat storages<\/a> in the district heating system, increasing the annual heat demand through expansion or reduction through more building refurbishment and others.<\/p>\n

In a dynamic system simulation, we create virtual variants of your system and run through various influences and parameters. Based on these variants, you can decide which is the most suitable and economical system for you. <\/p>\n

We are working on these issues in current research projects<\/a> as well as in consultancy projects for existing and new district heating systems<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

A proven project process for system development consists of the following steps:<\/strong><\/p>\n

  3. Conception of possible supply variants and their hydraulic schemes<\/li>\n
  4. Rough dimensioning of the integrated system components and cost estimate<\/li>\n
  5. Assessment of the approvability of the variants<\/li>\n
  6. Decision for one or more target variants<\/li>\n
  7. Simulation study<\/li>\n
  8. Profitability analysis and funding opportunities<\/li>\n
  9. Design of the target system with economic and technical optimisation and development of the control concept. The results serve as a specification for the implementation planning. <\/li>\n
