be<\/strong> in order to reliably supply the demand of the district heating together with the existing waste heat?<\/li>\n<li>Which <strong>design of<\/strong> heat storage and which <strong>materials<\/strong> are <strong>efficient in the long term?<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>How is the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.solites.de\/schwerpunkte\/oberflaechennahe-geothermie\/\">underground <\/a>influenced by the heat storage?<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Such questions could be answered by building many systems in reality and monitoring them for years. We were able to achieve very good matches between simulation and built reality. <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/iea-es.org\/task-39\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">IEA ES Task 39 (Large Thermal Energy Storages for District Heating)<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/iea-es.org\/task-45\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">IEA ES Task 45 (Accelerating the Uptake of Large Thermal Energy Storages)<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Thanks to the extensive simulation models, we developed the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scfw.de\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">simplified SCFW calculation programme<\/a> and made it publicly available.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-layout-column fusion_builder_column fusion-builder-column-6 fusion_builder_column_1_2 1_2 fusion-flex-column\" fusion-text-7\"><h4>Numerical flow simulations<\/h4>\n<p>We use CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) simulations with the programmes ANSYS Fluent and Open FOAM to more precisely investigate details in water-filled heat storages.<br \/>\nUsing a network of millions of cells within the water volume of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solites.de\/en\/focus\/large-heat-storage\/\">heat storage<\/a>, we can investigate the flow behaviour during loading and unloading, for example. We can also take a closer look at the dimensioning of the loading unit (diffusers) using the models.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-layout-column fusion_builder_column
